The Charter Group is pleased to announce the sale of Grand Rapids Office Furniture, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based remanufacturer and distributor of office furniture and systems to customers primarily in commercial and industrial markets. Originally founded in the mid-1960s, the Company has served the West Michigan market for over 40 years.  In its present form, Grand Rapids Office Furniture sells and distributes new, used, refurbished and remanufactured office furnishings and furniture.  The Company also provides its customers with a wide array of ancillary services related to its primary line of business and also manages large office furniture installation projects for commercial, healthcare and industrial clients. The company was acquired by Vince Parente of Vince Parente & Associates.  A long-time operations manager at Steelcase, Mr. Parente brings decades of experience in office furniture to Grand Rapids Office Furniture including a specialty in custom woodworking and components manufacturing.  Mr. Parente is enthused about the opportunities the company presents in terms of geographic expansion, recognized product lines (the company is Knoll’s exclusive West Michigan dealer), and the enjoyment of working closely with a seasoned management and sales team. He also plans to provide custom components and design and engineering services. Grand Rapids Office Furniture was purchased from long-time owners and brothers Scott and Russ Strong, whose decision to spin off GROF was based on their success developing downtown Muskegon properties and growing ScenTote, a manufacturer of scent-absorbing bins for hunters' clothes. Having worked on this acquisition project for many months with Mr. Parente, the Strong brothers have expressed full confidence in the capabilities and experience of him as a new owner and look forward to working with him as the company continues its impressive growth.
